Sustainability
Sustainable Cosmetics Production – Driven by Commitment
For us, sustainability is a matter of principle – not a marketing tool. We take responsibility and act according to three key pillars.
For us, sustainability is a matter of principle – not a marketing tool. We take responsibility and act according to three key pillars.
We are firmly convinced that the raw materials used in our cosmetic products should not only come from sustainable sources, but also be supplied by partners who share our values of conscious and continuous sustainability improvement. Ongoing dialogue with our partners enables us to explore new possibilities – such as using alternative packaging materials like PCR, sugarcane, or cellulose.
We see our skilled employees as one of our most important resources. Regular training and continuing education help harmonize individual needs with our corporate strategy. This combination raises awareness on all levels and nurtures a comfortable, motivated work culture. As a company, we also particularly foster gender equality and diversity.
Water is one of the key components in the manufacturing of our cosmetic products. It is used in nearly every step of the production process – whether as a raw material or as a processing aid. Responsible and safe handling of this valuable resource is therefore essential. We source all our water from a local drinking water supply and purify it in-house using a state-of-the-art treatment system that meets pharmaceutical standards.
The concept of sustainability plays a key role in all our processes, whether we’re dealing with a reduction of the scrap rate through process optimizations, a review of all manufacturing processes for sustainability when it comes to energy use (heating, cooling), or local warehousing solutions to avoid long transport routes, to name just a few examples.
We participate in a federal program in which we have committed ourselves to an annual reduction of carbon dioxide emissions by 2%.
Regular audits as part of the ISO 14001 certification also check whether we have achieved our goals and evaluate further potential for improvement.
We participate in a federal program (bulk consumer universal target agreement) in which we have committed ourselves to an annual reduction of carbon dioxide emissions by 2%. An independent, federally accredited inspection authority monitors target achievement.
Not only do we prepare the best water from the local drinking water source to pharmaceutical standard in our water treatment plant, we also return purified water to nature through our splitting plant.
How the splitting plant works
Impurities such as fats are removed from the process waste water. The clean water is returned to the environment. The sludge is professionally disposed of as special waste.
Our cooling system meets the latest energy efficiency standards. In addition, our heat exchanger uses the winter cold to cool systems and we feed excess heat back into circulation.
As our employees are the key to our success, we offer regular continuing education in the Lean Six Sigma method in addition to external training and continuing education options. Collaborations with universities of applied sciences keep our employees up to date and enrich day-to-day work with exciting and innovative projects, for example in digitalization. All our employees are paid above the legal minimum wage.
